We start the show off this week with songs saluting reggae music from Bunny Wailer, Bob Marley, Winston Jarrett, Aswad, and White Mice. Two Rasta Man, Lincoln Thompson and the Royal Rasses, Etana, Nitty Gritty, and Maxi Priest are also in the early mix. New music this week comes from Shaggy, Chuky and Gyptian, Singing Melody, New Kingston, and Marsha Morrison. Riddim rides this week feature the Fairground Riddim, The World View Riddim, The Time Square Riddim and The Think Twice Riddim featuring music from Duane Stephenson, Luciano, and Turbulence. Also this week you will hear a heap of oldies from the likes of Nora Dean. Derrick Harriot, Errol Dunkley, The Paragons, Delroy Wilson, Desmond Dekker, Slim Smith, Alton Ellis, and The Ethiopians.
This weeks Dub Zone comes in a classic style with dubs from Soul Syndicate, Prince Jammy, King Tubby, The Upsetters, Jack Ruby, and Jackie Mittoo. Extended mixes in the zone this week come from Ronnie Davis, Barry Brown, Burning Spear, Lacksley Castell, Barrington Levy, and Dennis Brown with Aswad.

In this year ending episode of Sounds of the Caribbean we review the music that was released in the year 2011 and played on the show the past year. You will hear selections from Luciano, Richie Spice, Etana, Earl Sixteen, Tarrus Riley, Little Roy, Israel Vibration, Sizzla, and Midnite. We ride one of the hottest riddims of 2011, the Skateland Killer riddim from maximum Sound and play selections from the Gregory Isaacs tribute cd We Remember Gregory Isaacs and the Various Artist cd Reggae's Gone Country. On a dancehall tip you will hear music from Mavado, Pressure Busspipe, and Vybz Kartel. You will also hear music from Ansel Cridland, Tanya Stephens, Yvad, Zion, and Dave Eggar. We round out the show riding the latest riddim release entitled the Cool & Deadly riddim with music from Maxi Priest & Sanchez and our pick for the 2011 Reggae grammy award Stephen Marley.

Sounds of the Caribbean returns to its normal length this week in a true roots & culture style. This weeks show starts off with extended mixes from Barrington Levy, Johnny Osbourne, Burning Spear, Misty In Roots, Cornell Campbell, and Cultural Roots. Also in the mix this week are tunes from Culture, Aswad, Horace Andy, The Viceroys, and Johnny Clarke. Also this week we take a listen to a few tracks from the group Dub Vision and their cd Counter Attack. We also dub it up with Dub Shots from the likes of Rolling Lion Studio, Alpha & Omega, and The Skatalites. This week you also hear several songs from The Heptones celebrating the life of Barry Llewellyn, a founding member of the group who passed away earlier in the week in Jamaica. The Roots & Culture special rounds out with music from Barry Brown, Hugh Mundell, Junior Delgado, Dennis Brown, Mike Brooks, Michael Rose, and Anthony B.

You will also hear music from Natural Black, LMS with Morgan Heritage, Buju Banton and Ras Shiloh, Luciano, Dennis Brown, and Ken Boothe. New music this week comes from the likes of I Wayne, Pressure, Christopher Martin, and Warrior King. Also this week we celebrate Halloween reggae style with music from Peter Tosh, Ini Kamoze, Bushman, Lee Scratch Perry, Bob Marley, and Gappy Ranks. We also Ride the Pursue Riddim featuring music from Queen Ifrica, CeCile, and Tony Rebel as well as interview a local Jamaican chef and owner of a new Caribbean restaurant Scotch Bonnets.

This weeks live broadcast of Sounds of the Caribbean happened to fall on the 49th anniversary of Jamaica's Independence and we celebrate this week musically with songs about Jamaica and with Festival songs from years past. Jamaica tunes coming from the likes of Jah Cure, Luciano, Tarrus Riley, Sizzla, Max Romeo with Winston Francis, Clinton Fearon, Vybz Kartel, and Junior Murvin are featured. Old time festival songs come from artists such as The Jamaicans, The Maytals, Eric Donaldson, Johnny Clarke, Derrick Harriot, Jackie Edwards, and Roman Stewart. Also in the mix this week is music from Bob Marley & The Wailers, Joseph Hill, The Skatalites, Gregory Isaacs, and new music from Earl Sixteen and Bug.
